Nutrition plays a huge role in our lives, affecting not only our physical and mental health, but our mood, productivity and energy levels throughout the day.
RISE by Studio PP Director of Personal Training and Exercise Physiology Ash Brennan took us through her day on a plate, where a balanced and healthy diet is key to remaining engaged during her virtual fitness classes throughout the day.
6.30am: My day starts quite early, so I begin with water and a cup of tea
7.30am: I usually have a long black coffee between clients
10am: Breakfast/ brunch – I tend to eat quite late as I am exercising throughout the morning and finish a HIIT class at 10am. Most days, I’ll have a bowl of porridge with oat milk, banana, berries and honey or Greek yoghurt with berries and muesli
1pm-2.pm: Again, I usually eat a little later than most. Because I am a creature of habit, I normally stick to a wholemeal wrap with salad and chicken, and a large glass of water
2pm: Oat milk cappuccino or long black coffee
3pm: Snack time – common options include carrots with hummus or pre-made baked-goods, such as a banana and walnut muffin
7pm: Dinner: vegetable red pesto pasta with either spaghetti or zucchini noodles, cherry tomatoes, spinach, goat cheese and red presto
8pm: Peppermint tea and a couple of bites of Lindt dark chocolate with orange
