Music: the motivator your workout needs

Jul 23

Choosing the right music to workout to is key to enhancing performance, boosting motivation and reducing perceived exertion.

Music that contains motivational lyrics or in turn, workouts that are choreographed to the beat of a particular song has proven physical and psychological effects.

For example, while a slower, sombre song can lead to feeling of pleasure (or displeasure), up-beat and high-intensity tracks can act as a distraction, changing your thought processes and your behaviour, bolstering your energy and maximising your output.

Determining exactly what playlist or music style works best for your workouts requires trial and error.
